Meet Twenty, the AI Game Master That Runs Your Game Night

Updated

Twenty is the game master built into Twentyroll's party rooms. It suggests a game that fits your group, keeps rounds moving, calls the big moments and writes a recap when the game ends, all for free. With Premium or a $1.99 Night Pass, Twenty also commentates live, builds custom quizzes and remembers your crew.

Somebody always ends up running game night: picking what to play, chasing the person who wandered off mid-round, keeping score, deciding who won the argument. On Twentyroll that job belongs to Twenty, a game master that lives in the room with you. Its mark is a d20 showing 20, and it speaks in short cards on everyone's own device, never over a question.

Twenty works in every game a room can play (Imposter, Trivia Night, Word Mix and Odd One Out) for 2 to 12 players. Nobody installs anything: the host starts a room, friends join with the code, and Twenty is already in the lobby.

What does an AI game master actually do?

The same things a good human host does, without anyone giving up their turn to do them.

Picks the game

Smart Play suggests a game that suits the size of your group and what you played last time, already set up the way you like it. One tap starts it.

Runs the vote

In Trivia Night the table votes on the next category, with your group’s favourites up front and one new one to explore.

Keeps it moving

When a round stalls because someone put their phone down, the host gets a one-tap fix: start a 30 second timer, skip them, or wait.

Calls the big moments

Comebacks, a new leader, a close finish, the imposter about to slip away. A short line lands on the reveal, so the table has something to shout about.

Ends it properly

A recap of who won and how, an MVP vote, and a highlight reel of the best 3 moments sized for WhatsApp status and Instagram stories.

What is free and what needs Premium?

Twenty runs the room for free. Premium, or a 24 hour Night Pass, turns it up to full power. The host’s plan covers the whole table, so friends who join with the code get everything the host has, without paying or signing up.

How does the Quiz Builder make a custom trivia quiz?

In a Trivia Night lobby, Twenty offers theme ideas written for the people in the room, or the host types their own, like "80s films" or "the Tudors". It then builds a quiz from Twentyroll's question bank in about the time it takes everyone to join:

Nothing anyone has seen

It skips every question a player at the table has already answered, in solo games, Blitz or earlier rooms with the same crew.

Something for everyone

It works in questions from each player’s strongest subjects, so the quiz is not won by whoever chose the theme.

A real difficulty curve

It opens gently and finishes hard, so the scoreboard is still moving in the last round.

Checked before it is served

Classic quizzes use the questions exactly as written. With a twist, questions are reworded around your theme, and a second AI model checks every rewrite still tests the same fact with the same right answer. Anything that fails ships as the original.

Can Twenty remember our group?

Yes. Twenty learns what a group enjoys from the games it plays: which games you finish, which categories you vote for, who keeps winning. The next time the same people get together, Smart Play and the category votes start from that.

Save a room as a crew and its 6-character code becomes yours for good. The link reopens the room whenever the host comes back, anyone who opens it early waits on a screen that drops them in when it opens, and one tap on "Same time next week?" makes a calendar invite and a WhatsApp message for the group. The host gets a reminder email the day before.

Is Twenty AI, and what does it see?

Premium lines are written by AI (Anthropic's Claude) from a compact description of the game, never players' names, which are added afterwards; every line is checked before anyone sees it. Free games use a library of written lines.

Every player can tap "Keep me out of roasts" under any line about them, and Twenty keeps lines about them mild from then on. The host can switch on Work Safe for the office, or Kids playing, which keeps trivia to kid-safe questions and Twenty gentle.

How do you play with Twenty?

  1. 1

    Start a room

Hosting needs a free account and includes 3 hosted games a day.

  2. 2

    Share the code

Friends open the link or type the code on their own phone, laptop or tablet. No app, no account.

  3. 3

Take the suggestion, or pick your own

Twenty greets the table in the lobby and offers a game that fits. Tap it, or choose any of the 4 games yourself.

  4. 4

    Play

Twenty keeps the round moving and calls the moments. When the game ends, read the recap, vote for the MVP, and play again or switch games without anyone rejoining.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI game master?

A game master that runs the parts of game night nobody wants to: choosing what to play, keeping rounds moving, keeping score and calling the moments worth remembering. On Twentyroll it is called Twenty, and it runs party games for 2 to 12 players on their own devices.

Is Twenty free?

Yes. Game suggestions, category votes, stall rescue, moment calls from a written line library, the recap, the MVP vote and the highlight reel are all free. Premium ($2.99 a month) or a $1.99 Night Pass adds live commentary, full recaps, the Quiz Builder and the host remote.

Do my friends need Premium too?

No. Room abilities follow the host's plan, so when the host has Premium or a Night Pass, everyone at the table gets Twenty at full power, including guests without an account.

Can Twenty make a quiz about any topic?

With Premium or a Night Pass, the Quiz Builder makes a quiz on any theme the host types or picks. It builds from Twentyroll’s question bank, so it works best on topics the bank covers, from history and science to films, music and sport. If a theme is too thin, it says so and offers to mix in other questions rather than inventing facts.

Does the AI see our names or what we type?

No. The model gets a compact description of the game with players as placeholder labels, and names are added to the finished line afterwards. The one exception is a quiz theme the host types on purpose, which only steers which questions are picked.

Can I stop Twenty joking about me?

Yes. Tap "Keep me out of roasts" under any line about you. Twenty keeps lines about you mild from then on, and the host's roast button turns into a compliment when it lands on you.

Is it suitable for kids or work?

The host can switch on Kids playing, which keeps trivia to kid-safe questions and the commentary gentle, or Work Safe for colleagues. Both are free.

Which games does Twenty run?

All 4 party games: Imposter, Trivia Night, Word Mix and Odd One Out. Solo trivia and Blitz are separate modes; on your dashboard, Twenty suggests what to play next.
