Word Mix

A Word Scramble Where Everyone Races the Same Letters

Solo anagram apps are a fine way to pass a commute. Word Mix is what happens when the same puzzle is dropped in front of your whole group at once: identical scrambled letters on every screen, and the scoreboard decided by who untangles them first.

It runs in Twentyroll Group Rooms, free, for 2 to 12 players. The host shares a room code, friends join from any browser without an account, and the first word appears on every screen at the same moment.

The rules fit in one breath

Unscramble the letters, type a word, hit enter. Everything else is detail.

Any valid word counts

If the scramble came from LISTEN, then SILENT wins too. Any real word that uses exactly those letters is a solve.

Speed sets the score

The first solver earns the most points and each later solver a little less, so the race stays alive even after someone cracks it.

Wrong guesses are free

Hammer as many attempts as you like. Misses are private and cost nothing, so you can think with your fingers.

Words ramp up

Rounds start with 4-letter warmups and climb to 7 and 8-letter tangles, so early rounds welcome everyone and late rounds separate the field.

Why racing changes the puzzle

On your own, an anagram is patience: stare long enough and the word appears. With six friends on the same letters, a solve counter ticking up ("2 solved so far") rewires the whole experience. You know the answer exists, you know people are finding it, and the pressure makes obvious words invisible in the funniest way.

Because wrong guesses are free and private, weaker spellers stay in the game; nobody watches you flail. And because later solvers still score, one fast friend cannot run away with every round. The scoreboard usually stays close enough to argue about.

Host it your way

The host picks 5 to 15 words per game and a timer per word, from a frantic 10 seconds to a thoughtful 30, or no timer at all. The reveal after each word shows the intended answer and who solved it in what order. Between games, the same room can flip to trivia, Imposter, or Odd One Out without anyone rejoining.

Word Mix is casual by design: it does not touch your global trivia ranking or XP, so it is a safe arena for guests, kids in the family group chat, and that one friend who insists they are "not a word person" right before winning three rounds.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play Word Mix?

Everyone in the room sees the same scrambled letters and races to type any real word that uses exactly those letters. The first correct answer scores the most points, later solvers score slightly less, and wrong guesses cost nothing.

Can more than one word be correct?

Yes. Any valid dictionary word that is a perfect anagram of the letters counts, so LISTEN and SILENT are both winners for the same scramble.

How many people can play?

From 2 to 12 players in a single room. Everyone plays on their own phone, tablet, or computer in the browser.

Is the word scramble game free?

Yes. Word Mix is one of the four free games included in every Twentyroll Group Room. The host needs a free account; friends join with the room code as guests.

How long is a game?

The host picks 5, 10, or 15 words per game and sets the timer per word. A quick 5-word game with a 10-second timer is done in about two minutes; a 15-word untimed game is a proper session.
